If there hadn’t been some problems with the guy who originally worked on him, I think he would probably still be in the game to this day. The Nail stuff was removed due to RL problems, not lore problems, as far as I know. Sorry, I threw an extra edit in there detailing the Quilby remark - if you look at their official artwork, the Eliotropes have the same coloring and weird lips as Evil!Quilby. My love for Ankama came mostly from the quality of the background, since I suck at playing games, and the new developments and RyF’s constant “I’m sorry, we couldn’t develop the stories we promised because someone hijacked the plan” messages make it really hard to continue supporting this company. Sorry that I have to deliever this criticism to you, Izmar, and not the person who came up with all the background garbage Ankama is delivering this year (real shame, frankly - the mechanics side of the game is getting better and better with every update…), but it just bothers me a lot, and the fact that even some people working for your company are giving cryptic hints about how the future will look alike doesn’t help much.

Or giving Echo actual development, or not making Ruel and Amalia one-dimensional).

Like, you know, not whitewashing Harebourg and using Freezz and Sylargh instead of Darkness Knight wasn’t too had. Don’t really see the resemblance to Qilby, he’s about the only Eliatrope character with any depths, which is something the new kids on the block lack - and it’s impossible to fix (so somehow Ankama manged to make stuff even worse than the ovas - because most of their problems could’ve been solved easily. There’s one, simple connection - they’re both aspects of the same poorly written part of the background which doesn’t really fit with the setting both N and the Edgetropes are attempts at making it “serious”, so basically emobdy the worst possible outcome. But I don’t see any connection at all between Nail and the Eliotropes, especially because they really resemble Quilby (the secret emo), not Nail. I’m not saying that the Eliotrope lore is perfect and fine. This new race of soul clones was created when Yugo drew on the wisdom of his previous lives, so it’s natural that they might be a little less cheerful and optimistic than Yugo is today.ĭoesn’t change the fact that it’s all poorly written and Ankama seemingly lost the ability to produce stories that make sense, and this is the main proof of this.

Yugo in the series is a character who is very optimistic, very cheerful, and very determined to do the right thing… but in his past lives, he had to make some pretty grim decisions as the leader of the Eliatropes. (This is a highly simplified version of events, of course).Īnd for that matter, neither are the Eliotropes. He was banished for heresy, and for that, he became very angry at Balthazar and eventually his anger allowed the Shushu demon he’d been working with to take over his mind, resulting in some Bad Things Happening. N wasn’t “emo” exactly, he was an Eliatrope who wanted to show the others locked away in Emrub that there was a world outside their dimension that they had no concept of. They were created years before N was ever in either game.īut isn’t N pretty… Well, “emo” (as in the mainstream misinterpretation of a style/music genre), and instead of keeping one emo!Eliatrope, they made a whole race of them?
